 The Seven Sacred Cities (Sapta Puri)

  • Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): Birthplace of Lord Rama.
  • Mathura (Uttar Pradesh): Birthplace of Lord Krishna.
  • Haridwar (Uttarakhand): Known as the "Gateway to the Gods," on the Ganges River.
  • Varanasi (Kashi, Uttar Pradesh): A spiritual capital on the Ganges, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
  • Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu): An ancient city of temples, known for Kamakshi and Shiva.
  • Ujjain (Avantika, Madhya Pradesh): Home to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga.
  • Dwarka (Gujarat): Lord Krishna's kingdom. 
Significance
  • Moksha: 
    Visiting these cities is believed to help attain moksha, freeing one from the cycle of rebirth.
  • Chakra Connection: 
    Some traditions link these cities to the body's seven chakras (energy centers).
